At the Courthouse: Forde will not speak to the jury
Perhaps because denial is not considered a mitigating factor:
Shawna Forde just told Judge John Leonardo she will not be taking the opportunity to speak to the jury before they sentence her in her capital murder trial.
Defendants are allowed to talk to jurors without prosecutors cross-examining them, but Forde doesn’t want to, for whatever reason.
Jurors will be watching some videos of various people today who will presumably offer some insight into Forde. They’ll also hear from another doctor.
Although they are on the witness list, the jurors will NOT be hearing from Forde’s son Devon and daughter Jaszmin.
It looks like closing arguments will be held tomorrow afternoon in the case.
See the At the Courthouse blog for more posts on this trial, and one about the trial of the next suspect in the same murders.
